What worked so well for me in this story were the characters. They weren't perfect. These days that is pretty much all I need for someone to stand out from the crowded mass of cliche characters. They were both needy and completely flawed but they perfectly complemented each other. I love reading about the imperfect, needy, pouty, juvenile little things people do because I think it makes me feel more normal, or less abnormal.
Jake and Aaron are immature, non-communicative (on the things that matter) and have verbal diarrhoea when it comes to everything else. But they're also quirky, fun and playful and have some very yummy chemistry.
Jake and Aaron reminded me a little of Valentine from Stockholm Syndrome (who months later I still can't stop thinking about) for their unique voices.
I won't say this was my favourite scene (I think that was picturing Jake sitting on the bench outside Aaron and Matt's house day in, day out - aawwww) but this one made me feel the most... Jake's physical reaction to hearing that Aaron was going to move in with Matt. Just gutted me. Made me feel, made me hurt. I won't say I cried, but I certainly had my sad face on.
